I’ve completed half of the pages of the next book of “Le Crépuscule de Tellure”, published in France by Soleil.
Here there are three small previews: one pencil, one ink and one color page (colors by Paolo Francescutto).

The texts are in friulian language, I’m sorry they will be unreadable by almost everybody…

I made a short 4-page comic, in Friulian language, for the contest “Zal par Furlan”. The title is “Zûc di bêçs” (“Game of money”). I cannot publish the story before the end of the contest, so here’s just a small preview and a page without words:

My last comic book: “Le Crépuscule de Tellure” has just been issued in France. The publisher is Soleil, and the writers are Fabrice David and Gregory Lassablière, with whom I had worked on “La Croisade des Enfants“. The colors are by Paolo “Gomets” Francescutto, who did a great job. I have already started drawing the second volume (the story will span on three volumes).

I will be in Angouleme for “dedicaces”

Next week I will be at the international festival of Angouleme, in France. I will be in the Glénat stand, to make “dédicaces” for “La Conjuration de Cluny” with the following schedule:

Friday 28/01 from 13 to 15
Saturday 29/01 from 10 to 12

I will be with the author of the texts of the book: Alcante.

It’s possible that this schedule might be changed at the last minute, so I’ll keep you informed.

“I Siums di Mario” are back

Last year I draw 6 episodes of “I Siums di Mario”, short (2 pages) stories published on the children magazine “Alc & Cè”. Now we are starting the second season, 6 new mini-stories, written by my wife Sara Nascimben and colored by Paolo Francescutto of Gotem Studio.

I’ve just finished the drawings of my next French book: “Le Crépuscule de Tellure”, written by Fabrice David and Gregory Lassablière, published by Soleil. Colors are made by Paolo Francescutto, who already worked on “La Conjuration de Cluny”, issued by Glènat last summer.

The cover required a lot of work, I did many versions, and some of them were almost completed.

These are the fisrt sketches:

The first idea was the one that we liked the most, so I made a better drawing, defining the background and studying different poses for the character:

The result was somewhat poor, so we added a bad guy on the background, bringing forward the character. I finished this drawing: pencils and inks. Here there are:

But just before starting colors… change! New character, that I draw completely: pencil, ink and color. Only the background wasn’t completed yet:

But now we need to change the background. New idea, keeping only the main character. And a new color palette, because orange and brown are too much widely used. This idea seems to work, and I made inks and colors: this is the finished cover!

Ah ah! …no!

It’s not finished.

It doesn’t work.

Lest’s start from scratch!

We came back to brainstorming, and explore new and different directions. Here there are 6 sketches of new ideas:

Nothing. The cover isn’t among them!

And finally a new idea comes, and everybody feels that’s the right one:

This sketch will lead us to the final cover, the one you’ll see on the book. I don’t post it yet, waiting to know something more about when the book will be issued.

phew…!

The good of all this work is that I feel that we reached a good cover, the best one until now!

The TV channel “France 3 Bourgogne” realized and aired (on september, 10 et 11, exactly 1100 years after the founding of the Cluny abbey) this reportage about the book “La Conjuration de Cluny” written by Alcante and drawn by me (I am in the video, talking in an “amateur” french).
